Continuing with the flurry of new singles from their recently released album, The New North, The Real Frequency collective has been hard at work shining light on Toronto's youngest and brightest hip-hop talent. Names like Shad, Kardinal Offishall, Boi-1-Da Rich Kidd, Marco Polo, JD Era, and many more – over 30 artists and producers total – grace the album. Included in that group is Theology 3 and Mathematik, who come together for this latest offering, "Watch Out," a track produced by Tone Mason.
"Objects appear bigger in the rearview/ And people don't respect you 'til they fear you/ And people don't listen when they hear you/ Always looking for something to compare to," begins the song, a refrain that winds up serving as not only the song's central chorus but also a mission statement for all artists hoping to establish themselves in the ever-crowded hip-hop landscape. For Theology 3 and Mathematiks, who are joined on the track by DJ Grouch, the collaboration came easy. "Me and Math had been building for a few months just on a mutual respect vibe," Thoelogy explains about the creation process. "When The Real Frequency crew offered up the chance to do a track for The New North album, we bounced around some ideas and made a New North banger!"
As with previous singles from the album, this latest track is accompanied by a Behind-The-Scenes video chat with Theology 3, where he breaks down The New North album, what The Real Frequency means to him, and speaks more on how his song came to be.
